OUR commitment to parents

At Sojourn Kids, we affirm that parents are the primary disciplers of their children (Deuteronomy 6:5-7). It is our privilege to partner with you in the spiritual formation of your child.
Through the faithful teaching of God's Word and intentional care for each child, we count it a joy and a responsibility to walk alongside parents as they raise their children to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ.
Kids CLASSES
Children from birth through 5th grade are invited to attend classes where they learn biblical truth through play and instruction in a safe, welcoming environment. Children are always welcome to remain with their family during the main service.
We currently organize our ministry into four classrooms:

Nursery & Walkers
- Parents may drop off starting at 10:15 am.
- This class follows monthly biblical themes, focusing on one simple truth each month. Through songs, stories, play and repetition, children are introduced to the same truth throughout the month to help reinforce understanding.
- Cheerios are offered as a snack.

2s and 3s
- Parents may drop off starting at 10:15 am.
- Children learn through stories, play, activities, songs, and crafts centered around stories from The Beginner's Gospel Storybook by Jared Kennedy.
- Cheerios are offered as a snack.

4s and 5s
- Children are released to their classrooms after singing worship in the main service.
- Children learn through stories, play, activities, songs, and crafts centered around stories from The Beginner's Gospel Storybook by Jared Kennedy.
- Outdoor playtime (weather permitting)
- Cheerios are offered as a snack.

K-5th Grade
- Children are released to their classrooms after singing worship in the main service.
- Teachers lead engaging lessons from The Biggest Story Curriculum by Don Clark.
- Each Sunday, children participate in a Bible discussion, activity, and craft.
- On months with a 5th Sunday and during the summer, our elementary classes do not meet. This provides K-5th graders an opportunity to worship alongside the whole congregation.

What is the check-in and check-out process?

We offer secure a check-in and check-out process where parents and children are verified using name tags and a unique code that only parents have access to. Nursery and children aged 2-3 may be checked-in up to 15 minutes before the service. All other children join us in the worship service for our first singing time. Children are then dismissed to their classes during the sermon. Parents pick their children up after receiving communion and bring them back into the service for our final time of singing.
What training do the volunteers receive?

All volunteers are required to complete an initial screening process, inlcuding a background check, prior to serving. In addition, they complete a child safety training and receive ongoing training and instruction from our Kids Ministry team. All of our volunteers are members of the church, many of whom are parents and families within our congregation.
